Fat is the primary fuel. * Threshold Pace (Zone 4): At LT2. Your body produces lactate faster than it can clear it. This is your "Red Line" – typically a pace you can hold for 60 minutes (your 10K-15K race pace). * Anaerobic Pace (Zone 5): Above LT2. Glycogen burns rapidly. 1. Even Split (The Gold Standard): Running each kilometer at the exact same speed. * *Physiology*: Keeps lactate levels stable. Most world records are set this way. 2. Negative Split (The Pro Move): Running the second half faster than the first. * *Why*: You conserve glycogen early when adrenaline masks fatigue. 3. Positive Split ("Banking Time"): Going out fast to "bank minutes." * *Verdict*: Scientific Suicide.
